Question: History channel rant again?
This just isn’t the history channel doing this kind of stuff it’s alot of channels doing this….
Here is what pisses me off. I am watching the news, bored and tired of hearing the same stories over and over again. SO i scroll down, hmm i bet they got something good on the history channel. Or maybe some other channel, but anyways its all the same bullshit.
Anyhow , I get to the history channel and i see this “AMERICAN PICKERS AMERICAN PICKERS AMERICAN PICKERS”
and it is fucking american pickers all damn day. Then i look up and there is this other history channel the real history channel imo, that I guess i have to pay for. Where there is different shows and interesting looking titles going on all day , not the same old repeated bullshit.
So anyhow, it just seems to me like, Here is the history channel you can watch the same shit all day long with no variety or you could have this ——> the REAL history channel real variety , interesting shows and topics and not some boring reality show you seen 1000 times.
Why do i pay for this shit? I mean tv is just getting ridiculous same old repeated reality shows all damn day, does anyone else feel the same way as i do. Like I am being ripped off and paying for Bullshit to be on tv all day?
That’s funny that you mention that. I think one of my history channel rants were about gangland…. I only like gang land if its the biker gangs though. No, im not a fan of gangland either.

does anyone else feel the same way as i do…YES!!!
and if it’s not the Pickers, then it’s Law and Order all damn day on several channels!
Then on the weekends, it’s dead every where. It’s like they put on the same dvd movies and go home till Monday. Seems like the ones that actually show a movie once a week (weekends) only own 3 or 4 movies and show them constantly.
Question: Why isn’t there any history on the History Channel anymore?
The following programs have little or nothing to do with History and now take up an overwhelming majority of airtime on the History Channel:
1) “Pawn Stars Mondays at 10/9c”
2) “Only in America with Larry the Cable Guy All New Episodes Tuesdays at 9/8c”
3) “Ice Road Truckers All New Episodes Sundays at 9/8c”
4) “Swamp People All New Episodes Thursdays at 9/8c”
5) “Axe Men”
6) “Modern Marvels”
7) “Top Gear”
“Mounted in Alaska”
9) “American Pickers”
The shows listed above are almost exclusively for entertainment value. The only thing historical about them is they were filmed before they aired. What happened to the History Channel? The first several years of it’s debut featured fascinating documentaries on all aspects of history; world history, regional history, cultures, civilizations, historical individuals, archeology etc. Many documentaries (even the older ones) had the ability to draw you into the moment (so to speak).
In contrast these new programs are clearly intended for entertainment value having little or nothing to do with actual History. So why are they on the History Channel?
@ LoboyRoyalty.
Oh look. It’s one of the “new viewers”. The kind of viewer the History channel had to be dumb itself down to attract to increase it’s ratings. Your obviously a very discerning viewer if you think these “shows” teach you about history.
Modern Marvels is the only one that comes close. But again the show is about MODERN Marvels. And Pawn Stars is not teaching you anything about history. It’s a show about a pawn shop in Las Vegas. The only time it comes close is when certain objects are being appraised and even then you get a brief glimpse of what the object was used for in most cases from someone who is not an expert within the bigger picture of history.
The rest of the shows are also similar as they have little or nothing to do with History. You don’t know what you’re talking about. The name of the station is the History Channel. Not the reality TV entertainment channel with a dash of History added when we feel like it.
